Memento mori for your new tab

Your weeks are numbered. Make this one count.

Every new tab opens on the time, today's list, a focus timer and the weeks you have left.

The Morimantra new tab: the time, a good-morning greeting, the day's progress, a search bar, the next task with a focus button, and a quote from Seneca over a photo of Roman ruins at sunrise.
The story goes that when a Roman general paraded through the city after a big win, someone stood behind him in the chariot whispering “memento mori”: remember you will die. So the day wouldn't go to his head.

Morimantra is that guy, minus the chariot.

Open a tab. Your day is already there.

  • A new photo every three hours
  • Quotes from the moods you pick
  • Weather where you are
  • Search the web or ask an AI
  • Your day in quarter-hour dots

One list that stays put until it's done

No backlog to groom and nothing to plan the night before. Write down what matters today and it waits on every new tab until you tick it off.

  • Drag tasks into your own order, or sort them by due date.
  • Click a title to fix it. Add a due date only when it matters.
  • The next task sits on every new tab, one click from a focus session.
The Today panel on the new tab: five tasks, two of them ticked off, with a focus button beside each open one.

Pick a task. Press start.

The clock takes over the tab until the time's up, then asks whether you're done.

  • 25/5, 50/10 or a rhythm of your own.
  • Breaks that breathe with you, and a longer one every fourth round.
  • Sessions follow you across tabs and devices.
A focus session in full screen: 15:33 left of 25 minutes, focusing on writing the launch announcement, with buttons to pause, finish early or stop.

See what focus buys you

Your life, in weeks

Add your birthday and Morimantra lays out an average lifetime as dots, with milestones like week 1,000 and day 10,000 along the way. It's a slightly rude thing to look at, and the best nudge we know for the thing you keep moving to next week.

Why memento mori?

Because it works. Remembering that time runs out is one of the oldest tricks for deciding what matters today. Morimantra keeps it light: a number, some dots, and then back to your list.

From the maker

I built Morimantra for myself, after one too many weeks that went somewhere without me. A new tab opens dozens of times a day, so it felt like the right place for a short list, a focus timer and a small reminder that the weeks don't come back.
